Why should I choose WellMixed.com to mix my music?

Answer:

WellMixed.com provides a solution for gifted musicians who record themselves, but lack the resources to make those recordings sound their best for distribution via iTunes, Amazon, MySpace, etc... It also provides a solution for GarageBand users who want their sessions converted to the industry standard ProTools format.

WellMixed clients:

It is easy for a user to upload an entire Logic, GarageBand, ProTools, or Cubase project to WellMixed.com. The session is mixed and mastered for internet distribution, then returned to the user in both mp3 and aiff formats.

What file formats are supported?

Answer:

WellMixed currently supports Apple Logic, GarageBand, Steinberg Cubase, Audacity, and Digidesign ProTools (LE, M-Powered). Projects may be no more than 2 Gigabytes in size. No other formats are currently supported.

Do stereo tracks count as 1 or 2 tracks?

Answer:

Don't worry, they only count as 1.

Why can't you just tell me what I owe after you assess my project? What if I pay you the wrong amount?

Answer:

We can assess your project for FREE. Just select "Send for Review - Free" as your product type, before clicking "Send to Engineer."

If you pay us too much up front we will issue you a refund (minus electronic transaction fees). If you pay us too little, we will send an e-mail asking for more money. It's just that simple.

Do MIDI (Virtual Instrument) tracks count as tracks?

Answer:

Yes, they do.

What MIDI sounds do you use?

Answer:

For GarageBand users we offer all the instruments available from Apple via their JamPack expansion kits. All other MIDI sounds are Roland Fantom X sounds.

It is recommended that users who have MIDI in their projects bounce their sounds to disk. Otherwise, the mix will be rendered with one of Roland's excellent studio sounds.

What VST instruments do you use?

Answer:

It is highly recommended that you bounce your sounds to audio files. Clearly, this will take much longer to upload, but in the end it will likely save time.

That said, we have the standard VST instruments included in Cubase 4: Halion One, Prologue, Spector, Mystic, Embracer, and Monologue - along with various others.

If your project requires a specific instrument, and you don't want to bounce your sound to an audio file, please contact us to verify that we have the appropriate VST instrument.

Oops I uploaded the wrong files. What should I do?

Answer:

Delete the project that contains the incorrect files. Then start a new project.
Alternatively, you can simply add instructions in your project's description, asking the engineer to ignore the unneeded files.

How long will it take to get my project back?

Answer:

Most sessions will be mixed, mastered, and available for you to download within 5 business days.

I am concerned about the security of my music. Who is listening to it, and where are the files kept?

Answer:

Only WellMixed.com employees and/or paid consultants will ever hear your music while it is in our possession.

Your files will never be copied to media that is not owned or contracted by WellMixed.com. 10 days after your final mix is rendered, your session files will be deleted from all media owned or contracted by WellMixed.com.

How much will you edit my material?

Answer:

We only edit material to enhance notes and rhythms already present in the music. We will correct pitch and timing issues if it seems appropriate, or if instructions to do so are given in the project's description.

If you are interested in composition, arrangement, or remixing services please contact us directly.

Do you support Reason or Rewire products?

Answer:

At this time we do NOT support Reason or ReWire products. Users must bounce audio from these products into a supported format.

If I am not satisfied with my mix, what will happen?

Answer:

You WILL be satisfied. Customer service is the top priority of WellMixed.com. Just let us know what you want changed in your mix within 10 days of it being completed.

It is highly recommended that all clients provide WellMixed.com with a working phone number, so that engineers may contact them personally. Revisions will be prioritized as new mixes, and as such will typically be completed within 5 business days.

Why do you do this?

Answer:

Everyone deserves to have their music sound as good as it can sound! We love making that happen.
