First, is the listening system. Most people listen to music on ipod headphones, home theater systems, and computer speakers. None of these systems are as accurate at reproducing dynamics as the standard audiophile hi-fi system (Bose or JBL or better, for example). 

Secondly, and more importantly however, audiophiles are there for the music. When they listen, they really listen, and don't mind turning the volume knob up to the point where bass is accurate reproduced by whatever system they are using.

One might say that a reduced dynamic range actually helps more people hear more of the music. ...although whether that justifies depriving audiophiles of better music is an interesting question.... what do you think?</description>
