The blog has not been well-tended recently, but now it will be even less so, as the WellMixedStore.com takes over the NavBar link on the main website.

However, this means the beginning of a new era, where the microphones that you want to listen to are available at WellMixedStore.com

List of Greatest Lollapalooza ‘08 performances!!08.05.08

I was in Chicago over the weekend doing some business and attending Lollapalooza.

I saw and heard some amazing bands, like (in no order):

The Ting Tings - Don’t know much about them, but they are from England and put on a great show.

CSS - Brazilian Chicks who create fun wherever they go!

Radiohead - They are from Eng-a-land (you probably already knew that)

Chromeo - Two Canadians who make 80’s retro synth fun

Witchcraft - Very listenable Swedish metal. Kinda’ Black Sabbathy

But the BEST shows were (I’m happy to say) put on by Americans.

Rage Against the Machine - Wow. It’s really something to see and hear Zach de la Rocha. There was a rumor that Barak Obama might make an appearance at Lollapalooza. After hearing de la Rocha, one wants nothing to do with politics.

Nine Inch Nails - My friend Eric Carver gave me this video that he shot in the mosh pit. It gives you just a little hint of the amazing light show, and the energy NIN has.

WellMixed.com - Free Services for Beta Users07.25.08

WellMixed Logo

The day has arrived! Your music can stop sounding like DIY and start sounding Well Mixed!

Through August 8th, randomly selected users will be offered FREE services in exchange for completing a beta user survey. I can tell you that “randomly” should be read “MOST.” So go ahead an upload a project. If you are taken to a credit card page instead of a survey, you can always back out and try again the next day.

Prices for GarageBand to ProTools conversions are $29. Prices for mixing and mastering of a GarageBand or ProTools project are $99 for a piece of music up to 3.5 minutes in length, and $149 for a piece of music up to 6 minutes in length.

WellMixed.com is one of the first internet-based music studios to allow users to upload their complete sessions (up to 2 Gigabytes in size) via the internet. It attempts to solve the problem of gifted musicians who record themselves, but lack the resources to make those recordings sound their best for distribution via distributors such as iTunes, Amazon, MySpace, etc… It also provides a solution for GarageBand users who want their sessions converted to the industry standard ProTools format.

Solutions…06.17.08

Obviously there have been some delays in getting the video up that I mentioned in the last post. We are busy putting in place a few improvements to our e-mail server to make things more reliable for WellMixed.com users.

I have also been busy with a couple of audio for video projects.

Despite these things though, the video should be recut within a week to reflect the e-mail changes we’ve made.

WellMixed Beta Site Getting Close06.11.08

The first press release went out today informing select media about our plans. Hopefully there is some interest out there.

The internet is all about finding your niche market. Musicians in rural areas, like where I grew up, are still pretty neglected when it comes to professional sounding mixing. (Many little studios in the plains states are still chasing that Def Leopard sound - doubling guitars, gated reverb everywhere - not so in KC.) Also, not many studios target GarageBand users, so hopefully that will help us stand out from the crowd.

I’ll be posting a short video soon - hopefully tomorrow - about how easy it is to use the site.
